Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe we are already one month into the new year. After spending a few weeks in the states for Christmas, I feel settled back into life in San Juan. I traveled back to the DR with the Bucher family, which didn’t go as planned. Our flight from Fort Lauderdale to Santo Domingo was canceled leaving us stranded in Fort Lauderdale for New Year’s Eve. As you can imagine it was hard to find a hotel that evening. After a bit of searching, we were able to find and book a room. We arrived at the hotel around 11:45 and made it to our room just in time to watch the ball drop! We then spent the next day with Roger and Judy Zimmerman who were kind enough to host us for the day since our flight wasn’t until 11:30 that evening.
We have already had a busy winter season of teams. Thank the Lord! So far we have hosted four teams, which is the same amount that we hosted all of 2021. Though this may not sound like a big deal, life is finally starting to feel like normal again. It has been fun to spend time in the kitchen again and work alongside the teams. I almost forgot what it felt like to be this busy! I definitely got used to not having to get up as early as I do with teams. God has been so good.
As you may have read in my last blog, while I was in the states last month, my dad had covid. Thankfully my dad is doing better and on the road to recovery. I also asked for prayer for my grandfather. On Sunday, January 2nd he went to be with Jesus. It was hard to be away from my family during this difficult time. I was able to attend the funeral via FaceTime.
Next month I will travel back to the US for one of my best friend’s weddings. I am thankful for the opportunity to travel back to the US for their big day!
