Wow! It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway done with our winter teams. We just finished up with a team from Roanoke, Virginia who were here for barrios surgery and construction. We now have three more weeks of teams before a spring break. Last week was a nice break with no teams at the guesthouse. The best part of the week was that my dad came to visit. This was his first trip ever to the Dominican Republic, so as you could imagine, we had a lot to see and do. It was great to have him here. We were able to travel a bit, hang out in San Juan, go to the waterfall, visit the new clinic, visit Tres Ojos Park in the capital (movies like Tarzan and Jurassic Park have been partially filmed here). We spent a lot of time in my room painting and organizing. When we sat back and looked at the finished product I felt more at home. I enjoyed showing my dad the country that I love. We worked hard, had a lot of laughs and he now has a better understanding of where I am and what I do.
A highlight for my dad was meeting the people I work with. He is happy to put a face with my co-workers and friends.
Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land of the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12
Below are a few photos of what we did while here.
Above are a few photos of our time at the waterfall, and dam in Sabaneta.
Hanging in the capital at Tres Ojos, and lunch on the water.
Please be praying for health and strength to get through the next three weeks. Following the three weeks of teams, I head back to the states to be with my family for Easter!
